A Safe Space to Grow, Heal, and Begin Again

Whether you are seeking help for yourself, your child, your teen, or your relationship, we provide compassionate, evidence-based care that meets you where you are.

Adult Therapy

Life can feel heavy when anxiety, depression, trauma, or stress begin to affect the way you move through your days. You may find yourself going through the motions without feeling truly present, or carrying a weight that is difficult to put into words. Our therapists draw from proven, evidence-based approaches, including CBT, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and DBT, and we tailor every treatment plan to you.

What does adult therapy look like at Genesis?

Your therapist will take the time to understand your story, your strengths, and what you are hoping to work through before recommending an approach. Sessions are collaborative and centered around your personal goals.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis to benefit from therapy. If you have been feeling stuck or overwhelmed, that is more than enough reason to reach out.

What types of therapy do you offer?

Our team is trained in a wide range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, Expressive Arts Therapies, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. We match the approach to you because what works for one person may not work for another.

Can I attend sessions virtually?

Yes. We offer virtual therapy throughout Florida, as well as in-person sessions at our offices in Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Delray Beach, Pompano Beach, and Wellington.

Couples Therapy

Relationships take work, and there are times when even the strongest partnerships can feel strained. Whether you are experiencing communication breakdowns, emotional distance, recurring conflict, trust concerns, or the stress of a major life transition, couples therapy offers a structured and supportive space. At Genesis Counseling, our therapists help you and your partner reconnect with the closeness, trust, and understanding that brought you together in the first place. We welcome all couples, and we work with partners at every stage.

Do we need to be in crisis to start?

Not at all. Many couples seek therapy to strengthen their communication, prepare for a life change, or simply feel more connected.

What approaches do you use?

Our therapists draw from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Imago Relationship Therapy, depending on your relationship’s patterns and goals.

Will the therapist take sides?

Your therapist provides a neutral space where both partners have equal room to be heard. The focus is always on helping you understand each other more deeply, not on determining who is right.

What if only one of us wants to go?

One partner beginning the process can still create meaningful shifts in the relationship. Therapy is worth starting even if your partner is not quite ready to join.

Child Therapy

As a parent, you know your child better than anyone, and when something feels different, it is natural to want to give your child extra support. At Genesis Counseling, therapy for children looks like play, art, and creativity, because that is how children naturally express themselves and make sense of their world. We keep you closely involved throughout the process.

How does therapy work for young children?

Our therapists use toys, games, art, and storytelling to help your child explore their feelings, build emotional awareness, and develop healthy coping skills.

How will I know if my child needs therapy?

Persistent changes in behavior, such as growing tantrums, new fears, difficulty at school, or pulling away from activities they once enjoyed, can be signs that something deeper is at work.

How involved will I be in my child's treatment?

Very involved. We include parents through joint sessions, parenting guidance, and regular communication with your child’s therapist so that you feel confident and equipped to support their growth both during and between sessions.

What issues does child therapy address?

Our therapists work with children experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, social difficulties, and family transitions such as divorce.

Teen Therapy

The teenage years can be an incredibly overwhelming time. As a parent, it is not always easy to tell whether what you are seeing is a normal part of growing up or something that needs professional support. We provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where teens feel comfortable being honest about what they are going through, and we work closely with parents to offer guidance and support along the way. All of our services are inclusive and affirming of every identity.

What if my teen doesn't want to go?

It is very common for teens to feel hesitant about therapy at first. Our therapists are experienced in gradually building trust, often beginning with a teen’s interests and incorporating creative outlets such as art, journaling, or music to help them ease into the process at their own pace.

What happens in a teen therapy session?

Every session is shaped around your teen’s personality and needs. Some teens respond well to conversation, while others connect more through creative or movement-based approaches.

Will I be involved in my teen's therapy?

We collaborate with you on strategies and share general progress updates while also honoring the trust and privacy your teen needs to fully engage in the therapeutic process.

What if my teen needs medication?

Therapy is always the foundation of our work with teens. If medication may be beneficial, we will have an open conversation with you and coordinate with a psychiatric provider so you can make an informed decision together.

Psychiatry & Medication Management

Our psychiatry and medication management services, led by Michaelle Valcourt, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, are designed to work hand in hand with your therapeutic care, ensuring every aspect of your treatment moves in the same direction. We look at your full picture before making any recommendations, and treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and BPD in both adults and children.

How does medication management work alongside therapy?

Medication is designed to support and enhance the progress you are making in therapy, so that both pieces of your treatment are aligned and working together.

Do I have to take medication to be a client?

No. Medication is one of many tools available to you, and it is never a requirement. We will provide you with the information you need to make a decision that feels right.

What can I expect at a psychiatry appointment?

Your first visit involves a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, medical history, and personal goals. From there, we create an individualized plan and schedule consistent follow-ups to make sure everything is working well for you.

Is medication management available for children and teens?

Yes. Our approach to pediatric and adolescent psychiatry is thoughtful and conservative. Parents are involved in every decision, and we provide ongoing monitoring to ensure that any medication prescribed is safe, effective, and supports your child’s overall well-being.
